Personal outlook on the novel
This Novel was a very good read. I enjoyed all the themes that the story conveyed. I was really impressed with how this novel conveyed the three things I discussed in a previous post: adventure, fear, and gratification. It has been one of the most interesting novel I have read. I really enjoyed the whole idea of discovering something that changes your life forever. The journey to the center of the earth is an adventure to the core, but I like to reference it to the journey of discovering yourself. At the end you find something new and enjoyable that is totally opposite of what you expect when you are beginning your journey
conflict of interest in characters.
Professor Von Hardwigg - a man if science very impatient but yet Adventurous?
Henry- the professors nephew who is very cautious and nonadventurous?
It would seem these two would clas but like kost things in life two opposites often atract to each other. these two characters who were originally Professor Otto Lidenbrock, and Axel compliment ech other very nicely wihtin the Graphic novel. it plays on what we know in reality that the opposite person can bring so much to the table, and in the end they help each other reach the center of the earth.

What makes the Graphic novel significant?
Journey to the Center of the Earth is very significant because of its power to convey to the graphic novel genre. like all the novel read during the course it deals with topics we can all relate to : adventure, fear, and gratification. Graphic novels are particularly impressive to me in that the evoke certain emotions that a regular book or comic can envoke.
Obviously the novel adapted by Lewis Helfand is an adventure story. all of us can agree on the fact we have experienced and adventure whether it was pleasurable or miserable. Helfand was able to convey this message through the story. I can only imagine traveling into the center of the earth, but Helfand and many graphic novelist make this imagination seem possible. Novelist like him and all those before make the graphic novel genre different by evoking emotions through panels, and images that we can relate to.
Another theme I have noticed in the genre of the Graphic Novel is fear. true enough all books can deal with fear, but it is a different type of fear involved when dealing with a graphic novel. Journey to the center of the Earth fear is noticeable once the three characters embark on their journey to find what the map is leading to. The Graphic novel deals with this theme in that the reader can actually feel the emotion come off the pages, which is something I do not believe a simple book can do.
Gratification is another theme I have noticed within taking this course. it is o different in the novel that I decided to do my project on. Professor Von Hardwigg and his nephew Henry get instantly Gratified when they discover the parchment paper that leads to their adventure and the fear that follows once the adventure is taken.
The Graphic novel is significant in that it can convey messages we all can relate to like adventure, fear, and gratification. Some might say it is because of the panels and gutter, but i believe it deals with the emotion that can be felt when reading a novel that sparks the feeling of the actual emotion in a way most branches of literature are not able to do.

Journey to the Center of the Earth the film
My Personal favorite adaptation to the whole genre of the Journey to the center of the earth is the motion film. I really enjoyed how the movie brought the book Jules verne to life. the only downside to the movie I found was that it used different names. It would have been much better if they would have stuck to the original characters. The adventure is the same which is what makes it my favorite of the adaptations. The film dos split from the story but it does it a way that makes the story fresh to those who haven't read the novel like myself before discovering the novel and the book. I believe if Jules Verne was alive he would be quite pleased with the adaption of his story. The best form of art is art that last throughout time, and Jules Verne novel is true art in the sense it keeps getting adapted and changed for the time we find ourselves in.
background on the graphic novel
The novel is based off the book " Voyage au Centre De la Terre" which translates into Journey into the Centre of the Earth. it was written by Jules Venre. novel became widely read in the late 1800's while the United states was involved with the civil war and France being under control of Napoleon. The graphic Novel was published in January 2011. It was adapted by Lewis Helfand and illustrated by Vinad Kumar. These two stuck to the original storyline of the actual novel but enhanced the story by using panels, and actual art within the novel.
